Has the whole world changed since I committed to the World Race?

Yes.

Has the One who called me?

Nope.

This journey actually started about eight years ago. My older sister, Beka, decided to embark on this crazy change of pace that is the World Race. Carrying just a backpack, she journeyed through 11 different countries in 11 months. From that time, the world through my eyes changed. Clearly, eight years in the making is no speedy call, but each step Jesus led me closer and closer.

My school, Emmanuel College, hosts SEND Week each year. It serves to cultivate a heart of global missions on campus. This year, I prepared with anticipation for my future. Walking into worship house, the leader, Jon Campbell opens with an encouragement from the story of the prodigal son. For me, it is easy to relate to the prodigal. The story brings me to complete gratitude of the Father’s Love and acceptance. However, this night, Jon Campbell takes it further in gratitude to turn and extend our arms in the same way. It clicked. My story serves to propel my purpose in Love.

Jesus has a way of illuminating each moment in my past as a moment of His closeness. I was met with open arms, and now, I get to open my arms in this Love for each new person I meet. Each new step, each new city of residence, I meet people beautifully different from those before but just as Lovable.

I believe in the call of 1 John 3:18 “Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.” This is the Love I carry. I have said yes to the World Race to join Jesus in giving His Beloved the ring and robe.

The more I commit to God always equals the more I see of Him, and He gets better each time. In my surrendering, He has been faithful to come through. So what if I give Him all of me? What if I surrender my future plans, my finances, any form of comfort? What if I commit to a journey of 11 different countries in 11 months? My God is the God of the whole world, so I want to go meet Him there.

Here am I, send me.
