Yesterday at Walmart, they called on the intercom for a Kyle to come to the front, and I almost cried. Kyle is my first nephew of 6 nieces and nephews, and they all hold a really tender space in my heart.
One of my favorite things about watching them grow up is how included they are in how my sisters and brothers worship Jesus. Whether it is house church or singing the newest praise song, the kiddos get a front row seat.
I’m not sure about the science of it all, but they sure carry a lot of joy.
These last few weeks in Wisconsin, my squad partnered with the Beyond Blessed Pantry in Baraboo. We helped to feed 100s of families each week.
Something really impactful I got to observe was the prevalence of volunteers we partnered with and how they brought their kids along to serve with them. Yeah, it is fun to play with the kids and impart some sport tips on the youth.
However, I am grateful because it reminded me of my similar beginnings.
When my sisters and I were younger, my mom regularly took us to the Peninsula Rescue Mission in Virginia to volunteer. It also became a favored part of the holidays to serve with my family when we are marketed to consume.
Maybe that is why my first holidays away from home still carried some homeness. I don’t remember any teachings my mom may have given me as we served. I just remember she took me along.
This is the Father’s heart. He is doing a lot in the world and just wants us to tag along. I am honored to have so many parents around me that emulate this same Love to include the kiddos.
Aww Stephie made me cry??So thankful for the Lord and these sweet memories of serving together!! He loves when we serve Him as a family and now they see their aunties serving Jesus and can come along side of her too??????
